Let’s Make Sure You Have A Cinderella Moment?
Let’s talk shoes. We all know the famous line “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world!” Is this the reality? Let’s explore the 3 types of Bridal shoe buyer.
1. The “It’s my day and I’ll wear my dream shoes no matter what” Bride
Money is no object! You have waited for this moment since you were small and you will buy and wear the most fashionable, glam, probably highly decorated, or high heeled shoes. You will look good, and you will rock them all day and love it! You will probably wear your treasured purchase again and again, revelling in the fact you bought them for your special day.
2. The ”Comfort, practicality and my budget are going to determine the shoes I wear. A version of my dream shoes without the hefty price-tag” Bride
You have a whole host of plain, slightly boujie, high heel, mid heel, kitten heel, embellished, classy and quirky styles to choose from. This is where, in our opinion, you will find the most options from which to choose.
3. The” Why spend a fortune? No-one will see them under my dress. I could even wear my crocs” Bride,
We admittedly haven’t come across many of this type of bride. Ask yourself if you truly are listening to yourself, this is of course your wedding day and you don’t want to look back and think, I wish I’d have bought shoes I really wanted instead of what I thought I should tell myself to wear.
Now with all that being said I want you to skip forward, imagine its your big day … and picture the scene.
You’ve had your hair and make up done, a few pre dress photos, you get into your dream dress and finally The Cinderella moment you’ve always dreamed of arrives. You slip your perfectly pedicured toes into the pair of truly gorgeous shoes you’ve been dreaming of wearing.
OR
You slide your foot into a mediocre shoe that will do, because its comfy and lets face it they aren’t really going to be on show. In fact the most day light they will see is when they are taken out of the box. They are not the simply stunning shoes that all but shouted “BUY ME” every time you saw them, but never mind they will be … OK.
It’s not really a choice is it?
Now, we don’t want you to feel that wearing a pair of jazzed up trainers is wrong. It certainly isn’t because you have added a little piece of your personality and style to them. All you need is the confidence to buy and wear whatever YOU want.
Don’t buy the first thing you see just because you think it’s the closest you’re going to get to what you want.
The fast paced nature of the fashion world means that bridal shoe companies have to keep up with the trends just as much as other fashion houses. The added extras or upgrade options now available for bridal footwear is extensive just ask if something can be added or colour changed, options are out there and it is ALWAYS worth asking.
Take your photos into account!
Is your wedding set in the middle of a country estate, or a city centre hotel? These questions might not seem relevant but just think, if your photos are going to mainly taken whilst standing in the middle of gardens then stilettos are probably not your best bet. The last thing you want is 10 photos of you and/or your guests disappearing into the grass because your heel has been eaten by the dirt. Whereas if it is a one stop venue like a hotel with estate grounds or a beautifully marbled entrance and you’re not likely to go on a mini hike for your photos then heels whatever the size are a safe bet. Think 3 W’s – where, weather and wear!
Not all Bridal shoes have to be ivory!
It is a common misconception that bridal shoes are always ivory. They actually come in a variety of colours from nude to silver and even blue. Colours are popular for wedding shoes for a few reasons.
- They can be worn again! Who doesn’t love a shoe that can be worn over and over with a variety of outfits over lots of different occasions.
- To be different! Perfect for the bride who wants to make a statement. No one wants to think their wedding is like anyone else’s. Putting your own spin on a typically traditional affair is key, from your main colour scheme to flowers all tied in with your choice of colour in your shoes … just imagine the comments …
- To remember a loved one or commemorate a special time in your lives.
A few final things you must remember
Shoes are made for the person wearing them, if you don’t love them in the shop you’ll not love them on the day because the shop is the place you fall in love with them first. Your shoes must be with you every step of the way! No not a cheesy pun, you must bring them to every fitting of your dress so that alterations are done and checked at every stage. Finally enjoy them! Whether they be designer stilettos, or pimped up crocs (yes, they are a thing) you have to be the one in love with them it is your day no-one else’s.
We are going to finish with a wonderful quote from a man who “KNOWS” shoes and which we think finishes this blog off perfectly,
“Shoes transform your body language and attitude. They lift you physically and emotionally.”
